Education
Public School WORKS
When updates were needed for a native mobile application, Public School WORKS did not have the resources necessary to make the changes. They were quickly falling behind technological requirements which would impact the application’s ability to function.
Since it had been quite a few years since originally developed, the mobile application needed to conform to the latest requirements from Apple and Google as well as updates related to changes in their internal APIs.
-
Action Plan
Mach One Digital leveraged its experience in developing mobile applications to dive in and quickly update the application.
Our experience in mobile applications made the required updates much faster compared to the effort that would have been needed from Public School WORKS technical staff to come up to speed on the development environment and updated requirements.
Project Outcomes
The application is now updated and compliant with the platforms in regard to security and device compatibility, and the project empowered the users of this critical application to continue using it without any impact.
However, we are always on the lookout for ways to provide added value along the way. Most software projects begin with an immediate need, like the updates needed here, but the analysis needed to solve the immediate problem usually reveals further opportunities. In this case:
The updates addressed the use of new internal APIs which now provide more insight and better performance.
The updates also made it possible to retire some of the older systems serving the APIs and take them offline. This reduced the overall complexity within the environment, saving time and money from the technical staff who had been maintaining these aging systems.
Real Estate
Phillips Edison & Company
Like many companies we encounter, Phillips Edison & Company started their project with the perfect intent to create an innovative new software platform which would provide great service to their customers, but it had hit major roadblocks along the way.
This commercial real estate company was more than a year into building a tenant platform for all of their property tenants to use. The development of the project had produced slow performance, bugs and of course, timeline and budget overruns.
The project had been mismanaged, which led Phillips Edison & Company to search for another vendor who could step in and rescue it.
-
The Action Plan
Mach One Digital stepped in to rescue the project before it was too late. We analyzed the existing platform to determine how to save the project while keeping it available for the users who needed it.
Following our analysis, the determination was to move the platform into Azure and implement a modern cloud-based architecture. This allowed for faster, iterative development and continuous deployments while minimizing the impact to the platform users.
Then, the architecture was designed so a complimentary mobile app could be created using the same infrastructure developed for the web frontend.
Project Outcomes
Between the modernization of the platform and its development processes (such as Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD) and Automated Testing), Mach One Digital was able to deliver more features than ever before using less people in less time than expected.
Through the development by Mach One Digital, true business value is being captured from this platform.
It serves more than 7,500 tenants across 300+ properties.
It’s being used daily by over 95% of the employees.
And the platform is a major contributor to the rave reviews the company receives from its tenants.
In addition, the platform has saved the company time and money by replacing the effort and postage previously spent sending more than 100,000 paper communications to tenants every year.
Mach One Digital continues to add functionality to this platform. We’re developing more opportunities to engage with the tenants throughout their lifecycle and creating even more value for the company.
Retail (B2B & B2C)
Cranel, Inc.
Few things are more important in e-commerce than staying ahead of the technological curve. That task only gets harder when you lose track of the journey you’ve been on so far.
Cranel was struggling with an over budget, stalled e-commerce upgrade project. At the same time, they were suffering major losses to their tribal knowledge. They had lost a significant number of technology resources and had been left with outdated documentation of a highly customized business systems.
They were looking for a long-term partner to help them bridge the gap in knowledge and guide them through the continued evolution of the business.
-
Action Plan
Mach One Digital began the partnership by walking through a discovery process, assessing the existing ecosystem and team capabilities.
Following that analysis:
We developed an action plan to mature the information technology service model implementing best practice tools and processes to help better manage technology resources.
We provided leadership and guidance for the stalled e-Commerce upgrade.
And we developed resource plans for building a new technology team who could support Cranel’s future business goals.
Project Outcomes
Mach One Digital used standard ITSM tools and practices to help Cranel’s team prioritize their efforts and develop strategic staffing resource plans. This has enabled the business to hit profitability goals and collaborate on strategic roadmaps long-term goals.
And of course, the stalled e-commerce project was completed and launched.
Overall, Mach One Digital’s guidance enabled Cranel to pay down technical debt and built the foundation for future projects.
Transportation and Logistics
Tryon Trucking, Inc.
One of the most important things we often do for clients is to translate business goals into tech. We join clients at the strategy table and align their technology with the desired business outcomes. Often, we’re looking at internal projects, but it’s also common for us to help “translate” between the company and its vendors.
Tryon Trucking was looking for guidance in finding a transportation management system provider that could better fit its needs.
The current provider at that time had been acquired and was sunsetting the platform. Tryon Trucking needed to find a software company who understood the transportation business and how it functions.
-
Action Plan
Mach One Digital provided guidance and leadership throughout the product selection and implementation process.
We worked with stakeholders to:
Gather business and technical requirements
Evaluate potential vendors
Coordinate product demos
Ensure the selection of the best possible platform for the organization.
Once the product was selected, we also facilitated the training sessions, data cleansing and migration, and implementation.
This began a trusted, long-term partnership where we have continued to support the organization strategically and tactically in other areas of the business.
Project Outcomes
After walking the business through discovery sessions and understanding their business needs, Mach One Digital was able to align vendor discussions in a way that cut through the sales pitches and made it easier to select the best solution.
The new system has enabled them to expand to new terminals with greater effectiveness and efficiency. This in turn reduced training needs, improved payout processes, and reduced old receivables by 70% in 90 days.
